Maintaining Domain Ownership

This is a short post to remind you of the importance of maintaining a domain portfolio for you and for your business.

Domain names such as "www.myname.com", www.myname.co.uk and "www.myname.net are particularly important.

If you do not yet own these domains yourself, there is a real chance that somebody else will, for either a legitimate reason or as a commodity which they will be hoping to sell on (to you perhaps) for large profits.

In some instances these sorts of domains have been used to direct visitors to competing and even fraudulent websites.

Ownership of the most appropriate domain names, even if not used straight away to create websites or blogs, could become very useful as a tool to defeat internet defamation and as a method of enhancing the quality of your brand.
